Sauro’s 4 Steps to Translating a Questionnaire

The process for translating questionnaires is one thing that is exactly the same in Market and Usability Research. Jeff Sauro, a highly regarded usability professional, posted “4 Steps to Translating a Questionnaire” on his blog last month.

His four steps are:

  2. Back translate
  3. Pretest the items
  4. Validate the items

Go read the whole post here. He has fantastic examples of why you need to back translate (something a lot of Market Research firms are hesitant to do).
